Seiko chronograph is well known, which must be attributed to the 6139 movement introduced in 1969, and it is also the world's first self-winding chronograph with guide post wheel and vertical clutch. Nowadays, the vertical clutch and the guide post wheel are the standard equipment of high-order chronograph. In contrast, such a high-standard equipment in 1969 is a major breakthrough in the history of automatic winding chronograph.

This watch adopts the well-received design that was nicknamed "Panda Panda" by Seiko fans in the past, that is, the black and white style of two sets of small black face plates with white main face plates. At the same time, this new work also follows the classic design, such as hairline treatment, orange-decorated chronograph second hand tip, time scale and tachometer ring marking, etc.

A third small dial is added to the new model, which has the function of *the time of day second hand to indicate the current time. The upgraded design also adopts a box-shaped sapphire crystal mirror and a watch case made by super-mirror grinding.

The new Prospex series limited edition watches are not only to commemorate the 1969 classic, but also equipped with the 8R48 chronograph movement which was first published in 2014 with Seiko's most advanced technology.
In addition to the vertical clutch and guide post wheel, it is also equipped with Seiko's original three-pronged zero-return hammer and heart cam to ensure the timing mechanism to return to zero synchronously.

Although this watch adopts a simple one-hand pressing mechanism, it fully demonstrates that it can achieve the same accuracy as the 6139 movement and all its subsequent replacement models with a set of guide wheel devices that integrate the functions of "starting, stopping and resetting".

Of course, every detail of the new watch is a brand-new upgrade, including the 8R48 movement with 12-hour timing and 45-hour power storage, the reflective coating on the inner surface of sapphire crystal mirror, and the super mirror grinding method for the watch ears.
